- Tallinn–Vilnius is about 600 km: 7–8 hours of driving through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
- All three countries are in the Schengen area, use the euro and share the same time zone.
- Natural stops: Pärnu, lunch in Riga (halfway) and Rundāle Palace near Bauska.
- For groups or families, one vehicle for everyone can be simpler than flights with a change — and you travel door to door.

Three countries, no hassle
- Schengen: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are all in the Schengen area — no routine border checks, but carry a valid passport or ID card, as temporary checks can happen.
- One currency: all three countries use the euro.
- One time zone: Eastern European Time in all three — no clock changes on the way.
- Roaming: EU "roam like at home" rules apply, so your phone works as usual.
The best stops on the way
Riga — lunch halfway
After about four hours you reach Riga, roughly the halfway point. Lunch in the Old Town or at the Central Market breaks the day nicely. Planning more time? Read Tallinn–Riga: not just a transfer.
Rundāle Palace
Near Bauska, just before the Lithuanian border, Rundāle Palace was designed by Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the architect of the Winter Palace in St Petersburg. Its baroque interiors and French-style gardens make it one of the most impressive sights in the Baltics.
Arriving in Vilnius
Vilnius Old Town is one of the largest medieval old towns in Eastern Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your driver takes you to the hotel door — many Old Town streets are narrow or pedestrian, which is exactly where a door-to-door service helps.
One day or two?
The trip can comfortably be done in one day. If you want to see Riga properly, split it: Tallinn–Riga on day one, Riga–Vilnius (about 300 km, roughly 4 hours) on day two. For minibuses and coaches, EU rules on driving time also shape the plan — on long days we arrange driver rest or a second driver. See The longer the journey, the more a private transfer pays off.
Plane or road?
A flight from Tallinn to Vilnius takes about 50 minutes in the air and is faster for a solo traveller. For families, groups or anyone carrying a lot of luggage, one vehicle door to door is often simpler — and the price is shared. Compare in Plane or private transfer.
